ChinaMaxx keeps personal progress on your device. The backend processes lesson text and speech transcripts only to generate tutor replies and pronunciation feedback.
What we process
Chinese lesson messages, speech transcripts, selected level, category, and pronunciation reference text during an active practice session.
What stays on device
Streaks, XP, completed lessons, vocabulary, daily goals, and lesson summaries are stored locally on your device.
How we use it
We use lesson data to generate tutor replies, evaluate pronunciation, enforce lesson token caps, and keep the live conversation working.
Third-party processors
ChinaMaxx uses the configured AI provider for tutoring and pronunciation evaluation. The backend does not store user accounts or conversation history.
Microphone and speech recognition
Audio is used on device for speech recognition where possible. Transcribed text may be sent to the backend for tutoring and pronunciation feedback, but conversation history is not persisted by the backend.
